Charlotte Benderaus romantic + classic

Charlotte Bender (* 1772 in Berlin; † 1870) was a German-Russian singer and composer.

Life

Charlotte Bender was the daughter of the double bass player Rambach, who worked in the Berlin opera orchestra from 1787 to 1818.

She married a chamber musician named Bender, who was either Peter or his brother Franz Bender, both musicians from St. Petersburg. Charlotte Bender moved to St. Petersburg as a result of her marriage

From 1816 to 1821, Charlotte Bender undertook concert tour(s) through Europe together with her husband and brother-in-law. The journey took her to Kiev, Berlin (October/November 1816), Frankfurt am Main (January/February 1817), Strasbourg (December 1819), Stuttgart (1820), Munich (May 1820), Dresden (July to September 1820), Vienna (fall to December 1820) and Zurich (early 1821).

She probably continued her journey with a stay in Italy in order to deepen her vocal training and further refine her skills as a singer.

In July 1822, she was in Königsberg, presumably on her way to St. Petersburg.
