Victoria Borisova-Ollasaus modern

Victoria Borisova-Ollas (* 21 December 1969 in Vladivostok) is a Swedish composer of Russian origin.

Life

Victoria Borisova-Ollas studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow. She came to Sweden in 1992. In Sweden she continued her education at the music academies in Stockholm and Malmö. She also studied at the Royal College of Music in London.

Her breakthrough came in 1998 with the work Wings of the Wind, which won second prize at the Masterprize competition in the UK.

Her music has been performed by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra in Finland, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki City Orchestra, Raschèr Saxophone Quartet and KammarensembleN.

Victoria Borisova-Ollas was the subject of a composers’ weekend at the Stockholm Concert Hall in April 2013.

Victoria Borisova-Ollas was elected to the Swedish Composers’ Association in 1999 and as a member of the Royal Academy of Music on 12 May 2008.
