Lena Elise Steinholtz Einarsdotter (* 11 July 1955 in Borrby) is a Swedish jazz pianist and composer.

Life

Elise Einarsdotter was born on July 11, 1955 in Borrby, she is the daughter of county governor Einar Larsson.
In 1973-77, Elise Einarsdotter lived in the USA, where she studied at Berklee College of Music in Boston, among other places. After her return to Sweden, she settled in Stockholm, where she was active in the group Tintomara and, from 1984, in the Elise Einarsdotter Ensemble (EEE), among others. From 1979 to 1981, she completed further studies at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, where she worked as a jazz teacher from 1981 to 1988.

Her music is strongly rooted in jazz, but is also inspired by folk music and she has developed her own poetic sound. She plays her own compositions, jazz standards as well as free improvisations. She also composes song texts and writes for choir and orchestra.

She lives in Hägersten and has been married to jazz bassist Olle Steinholtz since 1987.
