Alexandra Filonenkoaus modern

Alexandra Filonenko (* 1972 in Donetsk, Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic, Soviet Union) is a Ukrainian-Russian-German composer.

Life

Alexandra Filonenko’s father Boris Isaakovitch Plon was a football coach and educator, and her mother Natalia Grigorieva Filonenko was a singer. Filonenko started playing the piano at the age of three and composing at five. In 1984, the family moved to Moscow.

In 1986-1991 Filoinenko studied at the Ippolitov-Iwanov School of Music in Moscow and received composition lessons from Vladimir Tarnpolski. She graduated with distinction in musicology. From 1991 to 1996 she studied at the Moscow Conservatory P.I. Tchajkovski in Edison Wassilijevitch Denissov’s composition class. In 1996 she moved to Germany with her family and completed postgraduate studies in 1998. In 2016 her first CD Nackt was released, in 2018 the opera Noumen. Alexandra Filonenko is a freelance composer and lives in Berlin.
