Galina Grigorjevaaus modern

Galina Grigorjeva (* 2 December 1962 in Simferopol, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian-Estonian composer.

Life

Galina Grigorjeva studied in Simferopol and with Oleksandr Krassotov at the Odessa Conservatory. In 1991 she completed her studies with Yuri Falik at the Saint Petersburg Conservatory. After marrying an Estonian, she studied with Lepo Sumera at the Estonian Academy of Music in Tallinn from 1994 to 1998.

Today Grigorjeva lives in the Estonian capital as a freelance composer. Her work is characterised above all by references to Orthodox church music and early European polyphony. She has been a member of the Estonian Composers’ Association (Eesti Heliloojate Liit in Estonian) since 1994.
