Solwig Grippeaus modern

Solwig Grippe (* 14 February 1922 in Östersund, Sweden; † 8 October 2011 in Stockholm) was a Swedish singer (contralto), composer and voice teacher.

Life

Solwig Grippe was a member of the Radio Choir and a vocal soloist, and taught singing at the Royal College of Music from 1964. Her students included Olle Persson and Carl Unander-Scharin. In 1982 she was appointed professor and in 2004 she was awarded the Medal for the Advancement of Musical Arts.

Solwig Grippe is the mother of the composer Ragnar Grippe.
