Linda Kouvarasaus modern

Linda Kouvaras (* 1960) is an Australian pianist, composer and musicologist.

Life

Kourvaras studied piano in the United Kingdom in 1984. She received her associate degree in 1986, her bachelor’s degree in 1988 and her master’s degree in 1991. In 1996, she earned a Ph.D. in musicology. Her teachers have included Ronald Farren-Price, Max Cooke, Brenton Broadstock, Naomi Cumming, Malcolm Gillies and David Goodman.

She initially composed for punk and new wave bands. She was then artist in residence at the Arthur & Yvonne Boyd Education Centre in Bundanon several times.

From 2005 to 2007 she researched postmodern music. She is a nationally recognised expert on contemporary Australian music.

Since 1993 she has worked as a lecturer at the University of Melbourne and Australian Catholic University.
