Paola Livorsiaus modern

Paola Livorsi (* 1967 in Alessandria, Italy) is an Italian-Finnish composer.

Life

Paola Livorsi was born in 1967 in Alessandria, Italy. She studied music history with Giorgio Pestelli at the Università degli Studi in Turin in 1994 and graduated. She then studied composition with Riccardo Piacentini at the Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi in Turin, where she graduated in 1996. With a scholarship from CIMO, she studied composition with Jean-Baptiste Barrière and electronic music with Kaija Saariaho in Helsinki in 1997 and from 1999 to 2001 in Paris. She also studied computer music at CCMIX in Paris in 1999–2000 and at IRCAM in Paris in 2000–2001, with a scholarship from De Sono in Turin.

Her awards include the Primo Premio in the National Competition of Vocal and Instrumental Music for Children in Como (1994, for Il Gatto dal serraglio) and a scholarship from the GAI organisation (2000). Her music has been performed in Finland, France, Germany and Italy.

Since 1996 she has worked as a foreign correspondent for the magazine Il Giornale della Musica.

She has lived in Finland since 2001.
