Lise Maria Mayeraus modern

Lise Maria Mayer (* 22 May 1894 in Vienna; † 13 March 1968 in Vienna) was an Austrian composer.

Life

Lise Maria Mayer was born in Vienna, the daughter of Josef Rudolf Mayer (1866-1932) and Stefanie Marianne Konta (born 1873).
She was married to Josef Otto Gaberle and had a daughter, Hildegard.

Mayer received her musical training from various teachers. She studied music with Wera Schapira and piano with Richard Robert. She also took theory lessons with Josef B. Foerster. She acquired her conducting skills through lessons with Franz Schalk and Franz Schreker.

She composed a large number of works, including orchestral songs, a string quartet, piano pieces, trio songs and a three-act opera. In addition to her compositional activities, she also worked as a piano teacher at the Vienna Conservatory.
