Julie Pinelaus barock

Julie Pinel (ca. 1710; † after 1737) was a French composer and harpsichord teacher.

Life

As a member of the Pinel court lutenist dynasty, whose family had served the House of Soubise since the 1680s, Julie Pinel could be the ‘Mlle Pinet la fille’ who published an aria in a collection by Ballard in 1710.

In December 1736, Julie Pinel was granted an eight-year privilege that allowed her to publish vocal and instrumental chamber music. Before the end of the year, she published a book of arias and in 1737 a ‘Nouveau recueil d’airs sérieux et à boire’ for one and two voices, by Brunettes for two descants, pastoral scene, and cantatille with accompaniment, dedicated to the Prince of Soubise, in all probability Charles de Rohan, the patron of her family.
