Piret Ripsaus modern

Piret Rips (* 19 January 1965 in Valga, Estonia) is an Estonian composer.

Life

Piret Rips graduated from Tallinn Music High School (Tallinna Muusikakeskkool) in piano in 1983. In 1988 she graduated from the Tallinn State Conservatory (Tallinna Riiklik Konservatoorium) in the piano class of Liina Jõks. In 2004, Rips completed her studies in composition with René Eespere at the Estonian Academy of Music (Eesti Muusikaakadeemia).

In 2004 she joined the Estonian Composers’ Association (Eesti Heliloojate Liit). Piret Rips is one of the best-known contemporary composers of children’s and youth songs in Estonia. In addition, Rips composes sacred songs and is active as a choir director. She also teaches piano.
