Astrid Spitznagel (* 1957 in Lower Austria) is an Austrian flutist, harpsichordist, pianist, accompanist and composer.

Life

Astrid Spitznagel had her first piano lessons at the age of four. She started violin lessons at the age of nine and taught herself to play the flute at 16. In 1976 Astrid Spitznagel began studying piano and piano chamber music at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, graduating in 1982. In 1987 she received her diploma in concert flute with unanimous distinction and an award from the Federal Ministry of Science and Research. And in 1980 in the concert subject and music education harpsichord with teacher’s examination with unanimous distinction and appreciation award of the Federal Ministry of Science and Research.
Since 1983 she has been a répétiteur at the Academy of Music and Performing Arts (now University) in Vienna.
As a flutist, harpsichordist and pianist – especially as accompanist to the legendary double bass virtuoso Ludwig Streicher – she has given numerous concerts in Europe, the USA, Canada, Japan, Taiwan and Korea.
Astrid Spitznagel has made radio and television recordings, several CD and disc recordings
as a composer of songs, church, film and chamber music.
