Dobrinka Tabakova (* 1980 in Plovdiv, Bulgaria) is a British-Bulgarian composer.

Life

Dobrinka Tabakova comes from a music-loving academic family. In 1991 she moved with her family to London, where she studied piano, conducting and composition at Alleyn’s School and the Royal Academy of Music Junior. She attended summer courses at the Centre Acanthes in France and the conservatoires in Prague and Milan, and received her diploma in composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 2007 she received her PhD in composition from King’s College London. Her composition teachers include Iannis Xenakis, Alexander Goehr and Philippe Manoury.

Dobrinka Tabakova has been Composer in Residence at the Oxford Chamber Music Festival, Leicester International Chamber Music Festival and the Utrecht International Chamber Music Festival. She was invited as guest composer to the Spectrum Concerts in Berlin and to the Musicarama Festival in Hong Kong in 2010.
