Nina Åkerblom Nielsenaus modern

Nina Åkerblom Nielsen (* 1980 in Jönköping, Sweden) is a Swedish lyricist, composer and singer-songwriter.

Life

Nina Åkerblom Nielsen was born and raised in Jönköping, Sweden. Much of her childhood and teenage years were spent at her grandfather’s grand Steinway piano, where her first compositions were written at the age of 5.
Her debut on local radio came a few years later.

Starting as a special conductor at the Municipal Music School, the journey continued through music conducting at Per Brahegymnasiet and music conducting at Södra Vätterbygden Folk High School to individual music conducting at the Academy of Music in Gothenburg and later individual music conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm, where she finally graduated with a Master’s degree in 2007.

Nina ist als Komponistin und Texterin tätig. She regularly publishes choral music with Gehrman Publishing.

In the autumn of 2012, Nina wrote music for children’s – and family – show The Shy Heart, performed by Teateri in Jönköping. The play was written by Isa Schöier and directed by Karin Kickan Holmberg.

2016 saw the publication of her largest work to date, Missa nova Sofiae, a mass for choir, soloist and instrumentalists.
