Irene Galindo Queroaus modern

Irene Galindo Quero (* 1985 in Granada, Spain) is a Spanish-German composer.

Life

Irene Galindo Quero studied in Granada with Pedro Guajardo, in Freiburg with Cornelius Schwehr and Mathias Spahlinger and with Johannes Schöllhorn in Cologne.

In 2014-16 she taught composition at the Zaragoza Conservatory of Music (CSMA), Spain.

She has been awarded several scholarships and prizes -Alexander von Humboldt, La Caixa-DAAD, Brahmshaus Baden-Baden residency scholarship, Association des Amis de Royaumont, Artist-in-Residence of NRW Kunstiftung and Goethe Institut in Mumbai, Composer-in-Residence at Künstlerdorf Schöppingen. Scholarship holder at the Fundación Residencia de Estudiantes, Madrid and scholarship holder at the Akademie Musiktheater Heute, Deutsche Bank Foundation.

Her chamber opera a campo abierto premiered at Teatros del Canal, Madrid, in 2015. In 2017 she wrote for the Opera Stabile in Hamburg and for the Deutsche Oper Berlin, as winner of the composition competition “Neue Szenen III”.

2019 she received the Berlin-Rheinsberg Composition Prize.

She is currently developing several projects in collaboration with the poet Ángela Segovia.

She lives with her family in Berlin.
