Doina Rotaruaus modern

Doina Rotaru (* 14 September 1951 in Bucharest) is a Romanian composer.

Life

Rotaru studied composition with Tiberiu Olah at the National Music University of Bucharest from 1970 to 1975. She gave courses at the Gaudeamus Composers’ Workshop in Amsterdam (1990 and 1992) and the Darmstadt Summer Courses (1990, 1992 and 1994). Since 1997 she has been professor of composition at the National Music University of Bucharest.

She has received several prizes for her compositions from the Romanian Union of Composers, the prize of the Romanian Academy of Arts and Sciences and the first prize at the GEDOK competition in Mannheim in 1998.
