Judith Steenbrinkaus modern

Judith Steenbrink (* 1977) is a Dutch violinist and composer.

Life

Judith Steenbrink grew up in a musical family where Renaissance choral music took centre stage, and her twin sister Tineke is also active in the music world. After studying with Alda Stuurop, Lucy van Dael and others, Judith toured with the European Union Baroque Orchestra, Concerto Copenhagen and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, and between 2014 and 2022 she was first violinist of Christina Pluhar’s ensemble l’Arpeggiata.

In 2006, she founded Holland Baroque together with her twin sister Tineke Steenbrink. As artistic director and concertmaster, she has created projects such as The Birth of Gospel (with the London Community Gospel Choir), Silk Baroque (with Wu Wei), Minne (with the Bastarda Trio) and Carnival Baroque (with Jeanine De Bique). Steenbrink composes and arranges for Holland Baroque.

In 2022, she founded the annual summer festival Batenburg Baroque Festival, where music from various genres and styles is performed at historical venues.

In 2023, Steenbrink composed the soundtrack for the film Metamorphosis by filmmaker Pim Zwier.
